PAUL Trollope has pledged to do his "utmost" to introduce more fresh blood to Bristol Rovers following the nightmare of their 5-0 Leyton Orient mauling.
The Gas boss handed a quickfire debut to 21-year-old versatile midfielder Wayne Brown, on loan from Fulham, in the defeat and is keen to exploit the opening of the emergency loan window with another new arrival or two.
"We are aware of the urgent need for new recruits and we are working very hard to secure them," Trollope told www.bristolrovers.co.uk
Bristol City have announced season ticket prices for next season - and three of the four stands represent price reductions.
Current pass holders have until March 6 to take advantage of the 'early-bird' rates for 2010-11, knowing they will pay less than they did this time last year if they snap-up tickets for the Dolman, Williams or Atyeo stands, which start at £345 for adults.
The club have increased the cost of entering the Wedlock Stand (£260 adult) behind a goal, and raised Premier Seating prices in an elite section of the Williams Stand.
Reds chairman Steve Lansdown insisted: "We have worked very hard to make sure our offers reflect value for money in a difficult economic climate."
Forest Green Rovers handed outings to five trialists and consequently produced a disjointed display as Mangotsfield United, three tiers beneath them in the pyramid system, beat them 1-0 to reach the semi-finals of the GFA Senior Cup. Hartpury College's Sean Seavill and fellow defender Manny Udoji, currently with Stafford Rangers, started the game for Rovers, as did former Reading keeper Ross Kitteridge.
Mitchell Page's header 11 minutes into the second period from a Geraint Bater corner was enough to win it for a young Mangos team.
Bath City boss Adie Britton described his tenacious midfielder Lewis Hogg's conduct as "unacceptable" after watching him sent off in the Romans' 1-0 victory over Weston-super-Mare in Tuesday's (Feb 2) Blue Square South derby. Hogg saw red after clashing with ex-Bath marksman Josh Klein-Davies, in a bust-up involving one-time Bristol Rovers and Bristol City players respectively.
Britton acknowledged that the challenge on Hogg by the Weston man sparking off the 'handbags' had been a "late one" but stressed: "You can't react by charging around, swearing and waving your hands in the air. It's unacceptable and I'll be speaking to Lewis about it. It's disappointing too because his behaviour on the pitch had been much improved of late."
As for Weston the latest setback - their seventh successive defeat - leaves them stranded at the foot of the table and in dire need of points heading into Saturday's (Feb 6, 3pm) trip to face St Albans.
Toolstation first division outfit Cadbury Heath have strengthened their rapidly-changing squad with the signing of one-time Bristol Manor Farm winger Leroy Swaby from Taunton Town.
Yate Town Reserves boss Paul Dempsey has swooped to re-sign young striker George Brimson after a spell with Hallen in the Toolstation top-flight. Dempsey has also taken aboard one-time Paulton Reserves forward Ryan Cozens.
Hellenic League promotion chasers Almondsbury Town are coming to terms with the loss of their 36-year-old central midfielder Paul Chenoweth to a serious ankle injury sustained via a "bad late tackle" in the recent 1-0 victory at Highworth.
